Welp, here we go. Second verse, different from the past. ...And also longer. Like, way longer. Too long for a single post, methinks. So! This is just gonna be the Introduction + Part 1.

Let’s go, with my fic “Everything’s the same except Esplin takes Essam’s place in the flashbacks” (yes, I know now Essam’s name! Still no new title tho)

It's Edriss/Esplin (obviously), aaand it's both shameless fluff (hey, canon went there first) and Angst (cause what's Ani without Angst). Also Worldbulding (yeerk culture! Hork bajir culture!), timeline building (I stg half of this fic is me strangling canon and going “I Will make the timeline fit so help me Ellimist”), and many more fun things. And since the fic’s quite Long, I divided it in parts. Not only that, but I will (hopefully) write both the main fic, and its continuation(s):

Summary:

Visser Three had finally captured Visser One. He had seen her being allied with the Andalite bandits, and now he could expose her as a traitor to the Council of Thirteen. He would show the Yeerk Empire what a failure of a conqueror she was. And then he would finally become Visser One.
Visser One knew she had little hope. The case was strong, as was the evidence. Her only hope was to humiliate Visser Three, so that his case would fall apart. Yet she didn't know how. She would be killed, if she couldn't expose him in time. But the only thing she could do, not only would condemn her too, but it was something that had always been off limits. Yet, did she had another option?

The trial would begin soon, and with it...

Repressed memories from long ago...

The best day of Esplin's life suddenly became his worst. He had finally succeeded in his longlife ambition: he had an Andalite host. But he soon found himself being sent across space and time, suddenly stuck back again as Hork Bajir. He was now in a base in the corner of the galaxy, where he would meet a yeerk with big dreams of conquering Earth.

This is the story of two yeerks.
And how nothing changed.

In total, I wrote 2286 words! That's 2286 words more than I wrote last year! :D

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? Way fucking more, lmao. Never would have thought I would actually write for my WIPs.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Edriss/Esplin, despite being my overall Animorphs OTP, because, again, never thought I would actually sit my ass down and write. The actual surprise was Paper Mario, tho. I mean, I had only watched a playthrough of SPM back then. My newfound fanatism for the series (as well as a new game) was 100% unexpected.

What’s your own favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Of the yet unwritten ones, a fic where E&E give up on the invasion before it starts but the war still happens. Of the written ones, the E&E Christmas drabble.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? How unread the Original Works category is on AO3 lmao. But it's a nice writing exercise.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? Ya. Actually finish FTMV, continue the outline, write more drabbles (especially for the Bad Things Happen bingo, I have the card...)

My best story of this year: Flow Through My Veins. Original writing is hard lmao.

My most popular story: Egg On Your Face, for both being from a small fandom fic wise and for being posted so shortly after the game came out.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: FTMV.

Most fun story to write: E&E Christmas Drabble. Esplin is so complainy, Luke is so done, and Edriss will not be stopped.

Most Sexy Story: Technically the Christmas drabble, althought it's only implied.

Story with the single sexiest moment: For a definition of "sexy", again, the Christmas drabble. Well, Edriss definetly tried, anyway.

Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story: lmao FTMV. Still can't believe I posted it.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Well, the outline of the Visser AU is the most obvious one. I mean, I really had to think what made these two tick to write it. But also the Christmas drabble, as Esplin comes across like an old man complaining about "back in my days", which was the funniest thing ever.

Hardest story to write: FTMV, and I still have no idea how to finish the second chapter. Working on it, though.

Most disappointing: None, I don't think.

Easiest story to write: Egg On Your Face! I wrote it and posted it in like an hour.

Biggest surprise: When I actually finished and posted some things.

Most unintentionally telling story: Oh, the Visser AU. I didn't even post the second outline and already feels like a personal callout.

Story I’d like to revise: I'm tempted to edit Egg On Your Face but that's the bad brain talking. I Will Not.

Story I didn’t write but will at some point, I swear: The AU in where E&E give up on the invasion. It's right there, I just have to write.

This is another vent post but it's just to screech about K.A. Applegate's nonsense constants contradictions in worldbuilding.

Ok, less "writing" and more "writing dowm notes about the story" but! It's still Ideas that Are Not Just On My Brain Anymore.

Aaand it's a new AU, cause I don't have enough with my Animorph Erek AU (I will post about it one day, I swear)

Also, this Writing Stuff Down is messy cause I haven't reread Visser yet, will probably make a separate post with any changes to this AU once I do.

Sup everyone. I did wanted to use DW, I didn't forget! Just, ya know, it's easier to mindlessly reblog stuff than making my own posts lmao. But anyway!

One thing I really want to do here is write about Animorphs (up to book 40, no spoilers past that point pls). Mostly because the tumblr fandom of it REALLY hates several of my fave characters, and here if anyone wants to start shit I can block them, and, you know, it'll actually work.

So yeah! I'll try to post some of my ramblings about the Ellimist (my ultimate fave), Edriss and Erek King and the Chee. And other random Animorphs stuff.
