Posting here instead of tumblr lest I get dogpiled by the fandom, but...

I'm currently watching Skawo play through the Paper Mario saga to build hype for The Origami King (only 14 days!). Currently finished watching Color Splash, halfway through 64 Pro Mode (every other playthrough finished). Also currently playing 64 myself, preparing for the last chapter.

Now, I like the Paper Mario saga a lot. My fav is Super (mostly cause platformers are my fav, but it's also just great), and 64 and CS are my second favs. Sticker Star and The Thousand Year Door are both good, and I can't choose which I like more (...An Incredible Controversial Opinion, but the character writing in TYYD is just so... bad. It is definitely a game that came out in '00, and as someone who has watched A Lot of cartoons of that time, ...yeah. Most people haven't been oversatured by '00 tropes, however, so I can see why they like it).

However, what I really wanted to vent about is that he also livestreamed Bug Fables, a game heavily inspired by TTYD, the fandom's fave game. I watched the beggining... and inmediatly noped out. Mind you, the writing is leaps better than TTYD, that's not my issue. My issue is that... it's pretty much TTYD in every other way. And that's just so... boring. I mean, 64 and TTYD are also similar, but they have a lot of differences! SS and CS are also similar, yet they're also unique in their own way. TOK has a completely unique combat system! BF is just... the same but with bugs. Which... I guess is what people wanted, but... Man, if I wanted to play something like TTYD... I would play TTYD. The absolute lack of changes it's absolutely staggering. I do like that "tattling" isn't tied to one character, but still.
